Presentation & Pitch Desk Design

Design Thinking:
When I've been asked to design PowerPoint slides and pitch decks, I approach them the same way I do any multi-brand project: finding the unifying thread in structure, not in content. I normally begin with basic grid theory and hierarchy, so that each slide has an intuitive and authoritative rhythm, (if people instinctively know where to start reading, thats half the work done). I then work on visual consistency aspects, such as alignment, whitespace and typography. When I've witnessed sales pitches (where my decks being used), I've actually found these aspects, when well used, inspire trust. Even if the content differs drastically from slide to slide. The reader knows that there'll be a link coming, so they stay tuned. At the same time, I work with narrative tools such as the three-act structure to help guide the flow of the storytelling to a natural conclusion. It helps the sales team communicate their message confidently and clearly and naturally arrive at the closing proposition.
Once I've got these foundations in place, I make a conscious space for the client's personality, be that through brand-driven colour blocking, iconography or even photography. Each deck will stand out but won't compromise the 'house style'.
In short, I design pitch decks and presentations being led and dictated by logical content delivery. Clearing the clutter and making contrast a priority. Ensuring the imagery is so compelling the audience has no option but to remain with the pitch all the way through to the call to action.
